  • Global Justice Fellowship (Washington, DC)

Hausfeld's Global Justice Fellowship program provides a unique 1-year employment opportunity for exceptional 3L law students and those who are newly (0-3 years) out of law school.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in pursuing justice in a variety of fields including, environmental justice, climate change, artificial intelligence, big tech and antitrust, economic justice, human rights, and other related areas. Fellows will work closely with firm founder and Chair Emeritus, Michael Hausfeld in developing strategies and pursuing litigation to advance these causes. This fellowship offers experience writing articles, researching, and potential client contact.

Mr. Hausfeld is widely recognized as one of the top civil litigators in the United States and for his groundbreaking results in human rights law. Among his notable work, he successfully represented the Republic of Poland, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Ukraine and the Russian Federation on issues of slave and forced labor for both Jewish and non-Jewish victims of Nazi persecution. He has represented individuals and NGOs in litigation alleging liability for aiding and abetting the South African system of apartheid.

In 2019, Mr. Hausfeld, with co-counsel Earthjustice, represented 16 children from around the world, including Greta Thunberg and Alexandria Villasenor, in a complaint filed before the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, alleging violations of children's rights to life, health, and culture by five members of the G20 whose failure to reduce carbon emissions is perpetuating climate change. On May 26, 2023, building on the foundation laid by Hausfeld’s work with child activists, during the closing remarks for the Spring 2023 session, UN CRC Committee Chair Ann Skelton announced that the Committee has adopted a General Comment on Children's Rights and the Environment with a Special Focus on Climate Change (General Comment No. 26) - an authoritative guidance on how children's rights are violated by the environmental crisis and what governments and others must do to uphold these rights.

  • Justice Catalyst Antitrust Fellowship (Washington, DC)

Hausfeld's Justice Catalyst Fellowship program provides a unique 1-year employment opportunity for exceptional 3L law students and those who are newly (0-3 years) out of law school.

The goal of Justice Catalyst’s new fellowship collaboration with COSAL is to enable new lawyers to pursue antitrust litigation as a crucial tool for accountability within the U.S. legal system, with a particular focus on facilitating the advancement of underrepresented individuals within the field, emphasizing inclusivity, fairness, and equal opportunity in the antitrust field.

The Committee to Support the Antitrust Laws (COSAL) was established in 1986 to promote and support the enactment, preservation, and enforcement of a strong body of antitrust laws in the United States. It is the only organization in the U.S. that is dedicated to lobbying for strong antitrust laws and effective private enforcement.

Justice Catalyst activates groundbreaking approaches to social justice lawyering that have real-world impact by supporting early-stage projects that are boundary-pushing in the pursuit of systemic solutions to major injustices.

COSAL and Justice Catalyst believe that the enforcement of antitrust laws is crucial to promote class equity in the United States. By preventing large corporations from dominating markets and engaging in anti-competitive practices, antitrust laws help create a level playing field for small businesses and consumers, leading to increased competition, innovation, and fair prices. This, in turn, can help reduce economic inequality and promote a more equitable distribution of wealth and opportunities for all.

Fellowship Highlights:
Access to Justice Catalyst opportunities:

  • Partnership with our leading nonprofit for post-law school fellowships and public interest litigation
  • Networking and peer-to-peer learning opportunities with a diverse group of Justice Catalyst Fellows working across industries and issue areas nationwide

Access to COSAL opportunities:

  • Networking opportunities across key stakeholders for long-term careers in the antitrust litigation field
  • Best-in-class antitrust conference, training, and other event attendance opportunities
  • Substantively participate in COSAL’s multiple committees to formulate policies, participate in amicus briefs, and other impactful work for the antitrust field

Access to antitrust litigation opportunities:

  • Gain firsthand experience in impactful antitrust litigation
  • Get hosted at a top plaintiff-side antitrust law firm
