Lesley Hannah shortlisted for GCR’s ‘Litigator of the Year’ award

Global Competition Review recognises Lesley Hannah, Partner at Hausfeld in London as a finalist in the prestigious ‘Litigator of the Year’ category of the GCR Awards 2025. This recognition highlights her outstanding contributions to bringing competition litigation on behalf of claimants, particularly in leading groundbreaking abuse of dominance collective actions against Big Tech in the UK’s Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Lesley has been at the forefront of developing the UK’s collective actions regime, representing millions of consumers. In 2025, she will lead two pioneering claims - Dr Rachael Kent v Apple and Elizabeth Coll v Alphabet (Google), which address critical legal and economic questions surrounding digital markets, in a 7-week and 8-week trial respectively.

Lesley operates at the forefront of competition litigation and consumer redress as her cases concern some of the most complex legal and economic questions about how to deal with the vast and unfettered market power of big tech on UK markets, with the Google Play Store action not having a regulatory finding to rely on making it an extremely complex standalone claim, requiring a need to establish liability, causation and quantum.

Both collectives will represent a watershed moment for abuse of dominance claims and the collective regime in the UK more broadly. Her leadership, strategic expertise, and commitment to consumer redress make her a truly deserving nominee for this award.
