ACC Webinar – Options for war damage redress
On Thursday 19th June, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine will host a webinar in collaboration with Hausfeld and Bono Legal on the topic of “Options for War Damage Redress.”
Hausfeld Partner Ned Beale will join Tetyana Nesterchuk from Fountain Court Chambers, Pavlo Byelousov from Bono Legal, and Alan Riley, Professor at the College of Europe, to consider three types of claims: institutional and intra-state claims, private claims against Russia and Russian state-associated companies, and insurance claims. The panel will particularly focus on insurance claims that can be brought against Ukrainian and Western insurers and funded by third-party funders, offering prospects for low-cost and effective recovery strategies.
The session will cover:
- What types of damage have been suffered and can be recovered?
- Types of claims (overview of current and potential future claims)
- Key legal issues such as sovereign immunity, applicable law and jurisdiction, and recoverability
- Availability of third-party litigation funding and markets for selling claims
