Julia is a commercial litigator focusing on competition litigation which is international in scope.

Expertise

Julia is a German-qualified lawyer and joined Hausfeld London as an Associate in 2018. Prior to that she conducted part of her legal training at Hausfeld London as well as Berlin. A significant amount of her work involves cartel damages claims before the English courts or courts of the EU member states, often cross-border group actions, such as in the Trucks cartel case or the renowned ‘interchange fees’ litigation.

Julia also gained expertise in international arbitration whilst interning as a foreign qualified lawyer at Wilmer Hale London, working on high-profile cross-border disputes under various sets of arbitration rules.

Prior to qualifying as a lawyer, Julia completed her doctorate at Humboldt University of Berlin with research studies in Washington DC and New York City. She worked at the German Federal Parliament during her PhD, first in the Research Unit for Constitutional and European Law and subsequently for a Committee specifically tasked to investigate the failure of the German Governments, law enforcement and secret services in uncovering the existence and crimes of an active terrorist group. After the committee concluded its work, Julia joined the German Federal Ministry of Justice as a research associate for one year.

Clients

Julia has acted for several multi-national businesses in the wholesale and retail sector and various other industries. In 2020, Julia was seconded to the inhouse legal team of METRO AG, the biggest European wholesaler, for three months, and gained valuable in-house experience.

Experience
