Hausfeld scoops senior partner for their Commercial Disputes practice

Greg Lascelles will join global disputes-only law firm Hausfeld. He acts for clients in high-stake matters covering complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, regulatory investigations and legislative hearings. Previously at Covington, he will join the London partnership on 9 September 2024.

His practice focuses on solving disputes relating to serious fraud, securities, negligence, guarantees and indemnities, director liability, shareholder matters, M&A and data breach issues. He has been involved in groundbreaking High Court and FCA disputes relating to, among other things, market abuse, director disqualification and collective selling, as well as in the Supreme Court on the interpretation of contractual clauses.

Greg is recognised by The Legal 500 in the commercial litigation, international arbitration and banking litigation categories. His cases have been featured by The Lawyer in their annual litigation feature ‘Top 20 Cases’ for three years in 2019, 2020 and 2023.

This brings Hausfeld London’s disputes resolution team to 16 partners and 49 qualified lawyers, which rivals that of other specialist litigation boutique firms in the City, not to mention the commercial disputes teams of many leading City firms.

  • He advised on one of the most significantly complex corporate investigations the FCA and FRC have conducted and one of the largest director disqualification cases to have been brought by the Secretary of State which was a The Lawyer "Top 20 Cases" of 2023.
  • Advised on a complex series of disputes between Ukrainian oligarchs, their corporate vehicles and various third parties under Ukrainian and English law. The matter involved a number of interim hearings and judgments, the successful defence of fraud claims in an 8-week trial, which was a The Lawyer "Top 20 Cases" of 2019, and subsequent worldwide freezing orders.
  • Advised the World Anti-Doping Agency defending negligence and defamation claims brought by an athlete, which was a The Lawyer “Top 20 Cases” of 2020.
