3 Hausfeld Partners appointed to the LCAM Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Act 2022 Arbitrator Panel
Hausfeld partners John McElroy, Ned Beale and Lucy Pert have been appointed to the London Chamber of Arbitration and Mediation (LCAM) Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Act 2022 Arbitrator Panel. John, Ned and Lucy are all highly experienced practitioners of international arbitration, with experience of multiple disputes involving financial calculations.
The Government forecasts that around 7,500 Covid-related commercial rent disputes will go to arbitration under the Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Act 2022 which introduced a binding dispute resolution process, with LCAM as an approved arbitration institution for the UK Government’s Covid-related commercial rent arrears scheme. Arbitrators are required to ensure they take into account both the preservation of the tenant’s business and the landlord’s solvency in reaching their decision.
Both tenants and landlords can apply for arbitration and LCAM offers a streamlined process on a fixed fee basis, overseen by the LCAM Board. Parties interested in using the LCAM scheme can contact LCAM at arbitration@lcam.org.uk.
