Hausfeld welcomes nationally recognized technology and privacy trial lawyer Thomas E. Loeser
SAN FRANCISCO [Monday, October 5, 2026] – Hausfeld is pleased to announce that Thomas E. “Tom” Loeser has joined the firm as a partner in its San Francisco office and as a member of its Technology & Data Breach practice. A veteran of some of the largest consumer and privacy class actions in the country, Tom brings deep technical fluency and decades of courtroom experience to the firm. His arrival expands Hausfeld’s Technology & Data Breach team nationally and deepens the firm’s bench on the West Coast in particular.
Tom brings more than 27 years of legal experience to Hausfeld, including nearly two decades leading complex consumer and data breach and privacy class actions and nearly five years as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, where he served in the elite Cyber and Intellectual Property Crimes Section. Before law school, he built a career in technology: after a BA in Physics, he earned an MBA and wrote code for Treasury at Microsoft and served as a product line financial analyst at the Hewlett-Packard Company.
That combination of trial work, high-technology experience, and hard-science training, has made Tom a leader on some of the largest consumer and privacy cases in the United States, where he represents consumers against many of the world’s largest companies, including social-media and gaming companies, national banks, insurers, carmakers, and nationwide retailers. His work spans landmark matters such as the $10 billion Volkswagen “Clean Diesel” litigation, major automotive defect cases, and a series of high-profile privacy and data breach class actions.
His arrival also builds on an established relationship, as Hausfeld lawyers have worked successfully alongside Tom on cases in the past. Regarding Tom’s arrival, Global Chair Brian A. Ratner said:
