NAVIGATING CHANGE.
GLOBAL
Each year our teams take on a considerable number of cases on a pro bono basis - in all our core practice areas - often cooperating closely with charities and NGOs. In many cases, this work offers a voice to those who need it most.
In 2019, Hausfeld represented Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and fifteen other young people from around the world, in submitting a groundbreaking legal complaint about climate change with the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child. The complaint - the result of the work of 6 lawyers in the UK and US over 4 months - filed against five countries, details how these and other countries have known about the risks of climate change for decades and failed to act, putting the world’s children at great risk.
Michael D. Hausfeld, ChairInjustice must be accountable to justice. Justice is only achievable when there are those who choose to pursue it.
UNITED STATES

UNITED KINGDOM
Hausfeld partners with LawWorks, a charity which connects volunteer lawyers in England and Wales with people in need of legal advice and who cannot afford to pay. Lawyers attend training by LawWorks giving them the necessary skills to represent individuals before welfare tribunals. We have taken on employment and dispute resolution cases, such as acting for small companies in their disputes with suppliers. Furthermore, we work closely with charities and NGOs such as Mums for Lungs, ClientEarth and Privacy International, a global NGO that supports the right to privacy, dignity and freedom while also fighting business disputes on a pro bono basis.
GERMANY
The team supports individual plaintiffs and partners with NGOs such as the Society for Civil Rights (GFF) to strengthen fundamental and environmental rights individually and in a strategic way.
