Collective Actions Symposium - How can the regime evolve to deal with challenges

The Competition Appeal Tribunal's certification for a collective proceedings order in Merricks v Mastercard was seen as the green light for the collective redress regime in the UK, but challenges remain.

In an afternoon chaired by Sir Gerald Barling, former President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal, two expert panels of lawyers, barristers, economists, and funders shared their views from the claimant as well as defendant perspective. The Symposium took place on 24th March 2022 and was co-hosted by Alix Partners, Brick Court Chambers and Hausfeld.

In the second session, a panel moderated by Anna Morfey from Hausfeld - joined by Iona McCall from Alix Partners, Sarina Williams from Linklaters and Sarah Love from Brick Court - discussed what challenges lie ahead for the Competition Appeal Tribunal and how the regime can evolve to deal with these challenges.
