GCR 100 2025 - Hausfeld celebrated for its undisputed position as the only elite firm in both the US Plaintiffs’ and European Claimants’ Bar
The Global Competition Review 100 2025 has recognised Hausfeld as the only ‘elite’ firm in both the US Plaintiffs’ and European Claimants’ Bar. Hausfeld has held this recognition for several consecutive years, highlighting its market-leading antitrust/competition litigation practice.
With 38 Partners, 16 Counsel, and 87 Associates it is clear that Hausfeld is a force to be reckoned with. Furthermore, 21 Hausfeld lawyers were globally recognised in Lexology Index, GCR’s sister publication, making it the largest and most recognised team in the US Plaintiffs’ and European Claimants’ Bar.
In the US, they identified Scott Martin and Megan E. Jones for leading the firm’s Antitrust practice group, which was noted for taking, “bold approaches to antitrust cases and evolving private enforcement in digital markets.”
Commenting on the US case highlights:
“[Hausfeld is] acting for a class of DirecTV purchasers in the NFL Sunday Ticket antitrust litigation. A historic jury verdict awarding the class $4.7 billion in damages got overturned in August 2024, but the firm is urging the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to reinstate the win. The group also won approval for a $2.7 billion settlement on behalf of employers and individuals claiming Blue Cross Blue Shield entities illegally agreed not to compete with each other. On top of being the largest-ever antitrust settlement based on standalone allegations, the agreement also secures injunctive relief. Additionally, Hausfeld is counsel to a class of renters, [In Re: RealPage, Inc., Rental Software Antitrust Litigation], seeking to topple algorithmic pricing in rental housing that they say has facilitated an illegal conspiracy.”
In the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands, the firm is described as a “pan-European powerhouse when it comes to bringing competition damages actions”. GCR100 recognised Scott Campbell in London, Alex Petrasincu and Ann-Christin Richter in Germany, and Erik-Jan Zippro and Rogier Meijer in the Netherlands for their considerable contribution to the firm.
Commenting on the European case highlights:
In Germany, “Alex Petrasincu and Ann-Christin Richter, have recently been progressing claims totalling some €2 billion against Google by comparison shopping websites. It also acts for thousands of companies across Europe seeking damages from the Trucks cartel. Meanwhile, Alfaview has tapped the team for its EU complaint against Microsoft – the firm’s first major case against the tech company – over allegedly abusive tying practices relating to its Teams software.”
In the UK, “Luke Streatfeild and his sizeable team are pursuing a £13.6 billion opt-out claim in the Competition Appeal Tribunal on behalf of UK publishers of websites and apps against Google, which won certification in June 2024. Hausfeld also represents the proposed class representative in a £500 million claim against Amazon and Apple for allegedly implementing a “secret deal” to restrict sales of popular Apple products by independent merchants on Amazon Marketplace. Together with Spanish firm Eskariam – one of a number of local players with which Hausfeld partners in Spain, Italy and Portugal under an effective collaboration model – the firm continues to act for 7,000-plus Spanish dairy farmers seeking damages from a cartel that sold billions of euros of milk at unfairly low prices.”
In the Netherlands, “Erik-Jan Zippro and Rogier Meijer, represent consumer rights foundation App Store Claims in its class action against Google, alleging the company abusively forced Android phone manufacturers to prominently display its pre-installed Play Store application by bundling it with other apps.”
