Hausfeld Secures Landmark $110.7 Million Patent Infringement Victory for TOT Power Control Against Apple

In a significant legal victory, the legal team representing TOT Power Control SL ("TOT"), led by Hausfeld LLP and co-counsel Bunsow De Mory LLP, has successfully secured a jury verdict award of over $110.7 million in damages against Apple Inc. for patent infringement. On June 30, the Delaware federal jury found that Apple’s wireless chips, used in iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches, infringed on TOT’s patented technology related to the 3G wireless standard.

TOT CEO Alvaro Lopez-Medrano expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating: "We are thrilled that our fundamental cellular power-saving technology has been validated by a jury in Delaware. We are grateful to our outstanding legal team and all of our stakeholders for their invaluable support in helping us achieve this remarkable victory.”

Lopez-Medrano, a Spanish engineer and inventor, founded TOT to license his groundbreaking technology for managing power usage in response to fluctuations in radio signal-to-interference ratios. This verdict represents a major milestone in his two-decade-long fight for justice and recognition of his innovations.

The case—TOT Power Control SL v. Apple Inc., U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, No. 1:21-cv-01302—centered on two patents owned by TOT. The jury determined that Apple had infringed one of these patents while rejecting Apple's arguments that the patents were invalid, and awarded a $0.25 running royalty. Should the Court award the full amount of prejudgment interest sought by TOT, the final judgment could reach over $160 million.

Brian A. Ratner, Hausfeld’s Global Co-Chair, commented: "We thank the jury for recognizing the value of TOT’s inventions after a hard-fought trial against a formidable adversary in Apple and their legal team. This outstanding result was only achieved because of our fearless client and its trusting stakeholders, and the monumental effort of our legal team at Hausfeld and our fabulous co-counsel at Bunsow De Mory LLP, Kelley Legal PLLC, and Farnan LLP."

This victory is only part of TOT’s broader campaign to enforce its intellectual property rights against major players in the mobile device industry. Similar lawsuits filed by TOT against LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics are currently pending in Delaware federal court, with trials scheduled for January and February 2026.
