UKELA Annual Conference 2026
This year Hausfeld is sponsoring the the UKELA Conference 2026, bringing together leading experts, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss critical issues shaping environmental law today.
On Saturday 20th June, Hausfeld partner Simon Bishop will join an expert panel to present ‘The rise of group litigation’.
The session will cover:
- The growth of group litigation to seek remedies for environmental harm
- Claims for environmental harm in the UK (e.g. the ongoing litigation against industrial chicken producers for allegedly polluting the River Wye)
- Claims for environmental harms abroad (e.g. claims against Shell plc for pollution in Nigeria and for climate change harm in the Philippines)
- Why such claims (unlike many other environmental claims) can be viable for litigation funding
- Why the English High Court has jurisdiction to hear claims for environmental harms abroad.
Practical Information:
The conference will take place from Tuesday 16th to Saturday 20th June 2026, online and at the University of Warwick. Simon will be speaking at 9.00am on Saturday 20th June.
