Chantal Ottow

At Hausfeld, Chantal is acting for:

• A Ukrainian aviation business in insurance claims in respect of aircraft lost during the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Previously, Chantal was part of the legal team:

• Representing New Zealand Steel in relation to a tortious claim for liability for damage caused by climate change.
• Acting for Zespri Group Ltd in successfully bringing claims against former kiwifruit growers for breaches of statute and contractual obligations.
• Acting for various Banks and creditors to obtain summary judgment, liquidation and bankruptcy orders.

Prior to joining Hausfeld, Chantal worked on a range of public law matters. Her experience includes:

• Representing The University of Auckland in successfully opposing an interim injunction application brought by an unsuccessful candidate for medical school.
• Acting on a range of regulatory matters including on an investigation by the Auditor-General of New Zealand.
• Advising a variety of organisations on public law matters involving judicial review.
