Hausfeld features once again in The Lawyer's Top 20 Cases for 2026
The much anticipated 'Top 20 Cases' published by The Lawyer highlights the most significant and influential pieces of litigation to shape the legal landscape this year, focusing on matters with broader legal and procedural implications which often tackle unresolved legal questions or set new precedents. Inclusion in this list is an acknowledgment of the importance of the issues at stake and the expertise of the legal teams involved.
Hausfeld’s impressive track record of appearing in this feature each year since 2016 continues uninterrupted as this year’s overview features the firm's role in opt-out collective proceedings brought by class representative Elizabeth Coll against Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company, concerning alleged abuses of dominance in the Android app ecosystem.
The claim seeks damages in excess of £1bn on behalf of an estimated 19.5 million UK Android device users, who allege they were overcharged for apps, subscriptions and in-app content purchased via the Google Play Store as a result of Google’s alleged market power.
The proceedings will be case-managed alongside related claims brought by Epic Games and Professor Barry Rodger, which raise similar allegations of anti-competitive conduct.
The Lawyer highlights that: “The joint management of three claims means this will be one of the most complex cases yet to be heard in the CAT, and acts as a testing ground for procedural advancements and developments for the Tribunal.”
It also points out there are several other major trials set for 2026 that have not been included because they have appeared in previous editions of the Top 20, including Dieselgate where Hausfeld represents UK owners of diesel Mercedes vehicles as part of the emissions scandal.
This consistent recognition reflects our standing as a leader in innovative and high-impact litigation, cementing our role in shaping the legal landscape.
