Hausfeld wins an FT Innovative Lawyers Europe 2021 award

We are thrilled to have won the ‘Innovation in Sustainability & ESG’ award by the FT Europe Innovative Lawyer Awards 2021.

As litigators, Hausfeld pioneers climate change litigation in what is still an unchartered territory of law, as well as pushing climate change thought leadership to the fore.

Since our ground-breaking petition in a climate related case with the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child on behalf of 16 young people, including Greta Thunberg, in September 2019, we continued to find ways to challenge governments. Based on our extensive experience bringing mass torts claims in the US, litigating competition group actions in the EU, and having European offices, Hausfeld can bring global jurisdictional access and competencies to litigation aimed at tackling the global climate crisis. We closely collaborate with leading NGOs - Save the Children, WWF and ClientEarth – youth activists and other organisations which undertake environmental initiatives.

In addition, the Financial Times 2021 Innovative Lawyers Awards also shortlisted:

  • Anthony Maton, London Managing Partner and Hausfeld's Global Vice Chair as ‘Most Innovative leader’
  • Hausfeld's work using collective redress mechanisms in the 'Innovation in Dispute Resolution’ category
  • Ingrid Gubbay as ‘Sustainable lawyer’

The Financial Times 2021 Europe Innovative Lawyers Award mark the firms which use innovative approaches to deliver exceptional value to business and society, while also highlighting outstanding leaders and individuals bringing innovation to the practice of law.

Some 60 European firms were recognised across 15 categories with only a select number of firms achieving 4 or 5 nominations. Each entry is scored for originality, leadership and impact and then benchmarked against each other. The in-depth research was completed in partnership with RSG Consulting and is based on telephone interviews, questionnaires, reviews, and input by market experts. Only the top ranked firms make the shortlist.

We find ourselves in excellent company and would like to extend our congratulations to all winning and shortlisted firms and individuals.
