Katie Beran named to Bloomberg Law's 2026 "They've Got Next: The 40 Under 40"

Hausfeld is proud to announce that Philadelphia Partner Katie Beran has been named to Bloomberg Law’s 2026 “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40,” an annual list recognizing the legal profession’s most accomplished and promising attorneys age 40 and under.

Katie represents plaintiffs in complex class action and public entity litigation involving environmental, antitrust, consumer protection, and human rights issues. Her class action practice spans some of the firm’s most significant matters, including serving as one of the lead attorneys for the developer class in In re Google Play Store Antitrust Litigation, where she helped secure a $90 million class settlement as well as meaningful injunctive relief. She currently co-leads the Padre et al. v. MVM case team, representing families that were unlawfully separated pursuant to the federal government’s unconstitutional family separation policy, and the Greystone Mortgage Inc. et al. v. Equifax case team that defeated Equifax’s motion to compel arbitration of Plaintiffs’ monopolization claims earlier this year. 

As Co‑Chair of Hausfeld’s Public Entity and Environmental & Product Liability Practice Groups, Katie leads case teams representing states, cities, and water authorities in precedent‑setting environmental, consumer protection, and public‑health matters. She co-leads Hausfeld’s representation of the Suffolk County Water Authority, one of the largest public water providers in the country, in two water contamination cases, including the first-in-the-nation 1,4-dioxane groundwater litigation against chemical manufacturers. In July 2025, the court largely denied the defendants’ summary judgment and Daubert motions, upholding the team’s framework for proving causation and damages—an approach now being followed by dozens of other plaintiffs.

Katie maintains a significant pro bono practice, including longstanding work with the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Supervision to Aid Reentry Program and her representation of the City of Philadelphia in litigation challenging the proliferation of ghost guns. The case settled in less than a year and secured the broadest injunctive relief in any ghost gun case in the country at the time.

In addition to her litigation work, Katie serves as Hausfeld’s U.S. Business Development Partner, overseeing new case investigations and evaluations across all U.S. offices. Katie is deeply committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of lawyers. She strives to create case teams where junior lawyers feel supported, challenged, and empowered to take on increasing responsibility, with a focus on helping them develop both as lawyers and as leaders.
