Hausfeld Partner Jeannine Kenney appointed co-lead counsel in Wawa Data Breach Litigation

We are pleased to announce that the Honorable Gene E.K. Pratter of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has appointed Hausfeld Partner Jeannine Kenney to serve as Interim Co-Lead Counsel in In re: Wawa Data Breach Litigation (Case No. 2:19-cv-06019).

Jeannine Kenney, a partner in Hausfeld’s Philadelphia office, will serve as Interim Co-Lead Class Counsel for the proposed class of Financial Institution Plaintiffs, alongside Gary F. Lynch of Carlson Lynch, and Christian Levis of Lowery Dannenberg. Mindee J. Reuben of Lite DePalma Greenberg has been appointed as Interim Liaison Counsel for the proposed class of Financial Institution Plaintiffs.

The Wawa convenience store chain is facing a wave of lawsuits over a data breach that affected up to 850 Wawa locations along the East Coast and compromised at least 30 million debit and credit cards. On December 19, 2019, Wawa officials reported that the company had discovered the malware on its payment processing servers earlier that month and believed the malware had been collecting card numbers, customer names and other data since as early as March 2019.

Commenting on the appointment, Jeannine stated, “I am honored to be serving with such talented co-counsel and look forward to obtaining relief  for credit unions and other financial institutions injured by this data breach."
