Hausfeld appoints Lucy Pert as its Diversity Equity and Inclusion Partner for London

Global disputes-only law firm Hausfeld announced the appointment of Lucy Pert as its Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Partner for London.

In this position, Lucy will help carve out a diversity and equity strategy and develop initiatives to build a more inclusive culture and embrace a diverse workforce.  She will continue to build upon the firm’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of its business.

Together with Reena Gambhir, the US DEI Partner, she will be spearheading global initiatives and work together with DEI teams across all Hausfeld’s offices as well as the senior business professionals in charge of recruiting, hiring, training, leader development, business development, policies and practices.

As chair of Hausfeld’s London DEI committee, Lucy has led on several initiatives including working with the Kings College Springboard Scheme; offering work experience to students from Central Foundation Girl’s School Sixth Form; working in conjunction with Tower Hamlet Business Partnership; setting up book clubs for Black History Month and International Women’s Day and inviting external speakers who share their insight on a wide range of DEI topics.  Her commitment to DEI started in the 1990s when, as a law student and junior lawyer, Lucy spent time advocating on behalf of people living with HIV and Aids and representing asylum seekers from West Africa.

Lucy added:

As a woman I faced challenges that my male colleagues did not, and it is important that we address those for the benefit of the whole profession. I am white but my children are not; it is important to me that they grow up in a world where they are not judged by the colour of their skin. This appointment will allow me to address these issues, and more, to help create a diverse and inclusive environment within Hausfeld.”
