ILFA award nominations and win reinforce Hausfeld’s position as a leader in collective redress

During a Gala Dinner at The Law Society on 13 November 2025, Hausfeld won the ‘Most effective collective action’ award for Kent v Apple and was also shortlisted for the ‘Exceptional commercial law firm’ award as part of the inaugural Legal Finance Award by the International Legal Finance Association (ILFA).

We want to recognise and celebrate firms who make a meaningful and positive contribution to the legal finance ecosystem, spotlighting a variety of companies from law firms to insurance brokers to advisors.” During a Gala Dinner at the Law Society in London on November 13th, the winners were announced.

ILFA Awards 2025
Most effective collective action’ award

With this award, the judges “…honour a group action that achieved significant legal, financial, or societal outcomes through strategic litigation and collaboration. It recognises the legal teams and funders who maximised claimant outcomes, managed procedural complexities, and drove systemic change or accountability”.

With Kent v Apple, Hausfeld scooped the coveted ‘Most effective collective action’ award of the evening. Dr Kent’s action against Apple is the first case brought under the UK’s collective action regime to reach a successful conclusion at trial. On 23 October 2025, the Competition Appeal Tribunal decided unanimously in favour of Dr Rachael Kent and found that Apple has abused its dominant position by unlawfully excluding rivals and charging unlawfully high fees on purchases of apps, app subscriptions and in-app purchases made by UK iPhone and iPad users, resulting in losses over a ten-year period of around £1.5 billion.

Exceptional Commercial Law Firm’ award

In addition, Hausfeld was also shortlisted for the ‘Exceptional commercial law firm’ award which recognises law firms that have demonstrated outstanding commercial litigation capability in collaboration with litigation funders.

Since its launch in 2009, Hausfeld has been an early adopter of third party funding and has advocated the important role funders can play as part of the collective regime. Without such funding, the commercial reality is that collective proceedings could not be brought and pursued.

These nominations highlight the importance of Hausfeld’s strong and trusted reputation and a proven track record of delivering high-value results for groups of people and businesses.
