Hausfeld adds veteran DOJ litigator Paul Gallagher to Washington, D.C. office

Paul Gallagher, an accomplished trial attorney with the Department of Justice, has joined Hausfeld as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office, continuing the growth of the firm’s highly ranked antitrust practice.

For most of the last decade, Gallagher served as a white-collar prosecutor with the DOJ’s Antitrust Division in Washington, D.C., specializing in prosecution of criminal antitrust cases against corporations and executives engaged in illegal activity globally and within the United States. Gallagher was heavily involved in the Antitrust Division’s investigation and prosecution of cartels in the global automotive industry, an investigation that resulted in charges against over 110 corporations and executives and the recovery of almost $3 billion in criminal fines. The investigation was the largest in the Antitrust Division’s history. During his time with the Department of Justice, Gallagher received numerous awards, including the Attorney General Distinguished Service Award and the Health and Human Service Inspector General’s Award for Fighting Fraud.

Before joining the Justice Department, Gallagher was Chief of the Public Advocacy Section of the District of Columbia Attorney General’s Office, where he supervised the investigation and prosecution of civil cases involving consumer fraud, antitrust, qui tam, and other litigation on behalf of the residents of the District of Columbia. He recovered millions of dollars in fines and restitution on behalf of D.C. residents.

Prior to his work at the DOJ, Gallagher, alongside Hausfeld attorneys, spearheaded some of the largest and most complicated class actions litigated in the United States, across a wide range of subject matters, including antitrust, civil rights, consumer rights, human rights, and RICO claims.

Chairman Michael Hausfeld stated, “we are very excited to have a veteran DOJ litigator such as Paul joining the firm. His experience complements our well-established practice in representing clients impacted by corporate misconduct, and he brings an impressive track record of trial experience at the DOJ.”

“I’m incredibly excited to be working with Michael again, and with my former and new colleagues at Hausfeld,” Paul commented. “I look forward to being involved in the cases that this unique and dynamic firm handles in the United States and around the world.”
