Stuart focuses on personal injury, consumer and product safety claims. He joins our environment & product liability practice.

Expertise

Stuart commenced his legal career at Leigh Day where he also trained. Stuart gained extensive experience working on high-profile litigation against British corporations and possesses particular experience in multiparty work.

His recent cases relate to complex personal injury claims involving medical devices and pharmaceuticals. He also has experience of data protection claims and construction litigation.

Stuart also has experience of international mass tort claims involving alleged human rights abuse overseas but pursued against British corporate defendants.

Clients

Due to the nature of his practice, Stuart’s client base consists predominantly of large groups of individuals.

At his previous firm, Stuart was a member of legal teams which:
- Successfully resolved a medical device product liability group action involving 150 claimants.
- Acted on behalf of 300 individuals against DePuy International Limited (a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson) (action brought under CPA 1987).
- Handled complex personal injury claims arising from clinical research.
- Acted for over 100 individuals allegedly affected by infected NHS blood transfusions.
- Acted in a number of data rights potential group actions involving alleged breaches of the Data Protection Act 2018/GDPR. In some instances, the claimant groups numbered in their thousands.
- Acted for over 100 homeowners claiming losses arising from their properties having allegedly been fitted with unsafe cladding material.
At Hausfeld, Stuart is:
- Advising individuals, or their families in the case of bereavement, who have suffered severe adverse reactions as a result of receiving COVID19 vaccinations, to facilitate access to better support and urgent reform of the outdated and inadequate Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme currently in place in the UK.
Stuart was the member of a team that acted for hundreds of Mozambicans who alleged they were the victims of serious human rights abuses in a matter pursued against a UK-based parent company.

At Hausfeld, Stuart is part of the team:

Representing up to 37 British gymnasts - including 4 Olympians - against British Gymnastics in relation to allegations of systemic physical and psychological abuse perpetrated by coaches, and other personnel employed by British Gymnastics, upon children as young as six.

Acted for the CEO of a disability aviation charity, in relation to a disability discrimination claim against Carnival PLC t/a Cunard.
