OVERVIEW

Kartik is Counsel in Hausfeld’s New York office with broad experience in representing individual and classes of plaintiffs in all phases of litigation. Kartik works on antitrust, environmental and consumer protection matters, and has prior experience in mass torts and shareholder derivative litigation.

Kartik’s antitrust practice covers many industries, ranging from the chemical manufacturing sector, the protein and livestock industry, to housing and consumer credit reporting.  Kartik’s environmental practice focuses on novel litigation approaches to address climate change.

Prior to joining Hausfeld, Kartik worked at a national environmental nonprofit where his practice focused on federal agency advocacy regarding the Toxic Substances Control Act. Kartik previously worked at national plaintiffs’ firm, where he represented individuals and classes harmed by pesticides, electronic cigarettes, contaminated pharmaceuticals, and a variety of unfair business practices. Kartik also represented one of the nation’s largest public pension funds in a shareholder derivative suit, securing significant recovery and corporate reforms.

Kartik has also maintained a commitment to pro bono work, and has represented asylum seekers, survivors of abuse, and public school districts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kartik holds two engineering degrees, and is fluent in French, Hindi, and Telugu.

Antitrust/Competition

  • In re DPP Beef Litigation – Representing direct purchaser plaintiffs in class action suit alleging the world's largest meat processing and packing companies conspired to suppress the price of cattle and increase the price of beef in the United States to generate higher profit margins. 
  • In re Manufactured Home Lot Rents Antitrust Litigation – Hausfeld is co-lead counsel in an antitrust case filed on behalf of a putative nationwide class of manufactured home residents against nine community management companies and a market data provider, Datacomp Appraisal Systems Inc. The Plaintiffs allege that the Defendants conspired to exchange competitively sensitive information and fixed the price of rents at manufactured home lots across the country from at least 2019 through the present. 
  • Greystone Mortgage Inc. and First Financial Lending LLC v. Equifax Workforce Solutions LLC and Equifax Inc. – Hausfeld represents verifiers in an antitrust class action alleging Equifax monopolized the market for electronic verification of income and employment services.
  • In re Diisocyanates Antitrust Litigation – Hausfeld represents a class of direct purchasers of the industrial chemicals methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and toluene diisocyanate (TDI) in claims against major industrial suppliers for conspiring to artificially inflate prices in violation of federal antitrust law.
