Alex focuses predominantly on resolving commercial and competition disputes.

Expertise

Alex offers experience in a range of matters including financial disputes and commercial litigation, as well as expertise in climate change-related governance and legal issues.

Alex joined Hausfeld in July 2023, after working as a lawyer at the Commonwealth Climate and Law Initiative, an NGO specialising in research and education on existing corporate and financial laws and how they pertain to climate risk. Before that, he was an Associate in the Dispute Resolution team at Slaughter and May, including a secondment as a judicial assistant at the High Court and Court of Appeal.

In 2024 and 2025, Alex was recognised as part of the formal Pro Bono Recognition List, published annually, which celebrates solicitors and barristers who have dedicated 25 or more hours of pro bono legal assistance in the previous calendar year. The list is under the patronage of The Lady Chief Justice of England & Wales and is supported by The Law Society, Bar Council and all major pro bono legal organisations.

Antitrust/Competition

At Hausfeld, Alex is part of the legal team:

• Representing Foundem in an abuse of dominance claim against Google linked to the EC's infringement finding in relation to Google Shopping

Commercial & Financial Disputes

At Hausfeld, Alex is acting for: 

  • The claimant in R (on the application of All-Party Parliamentary Group on Fair Business Banking) v Financial Conduct Authority, in its application to challenge the lawfulness of the decision of the FCA not to establish a mechanism of redress following the exclusion of bank customers from the FCA’s IRHP compensation scheme. Permission was won in June 2023 (reported at [2023] EWHC 1616) and the upcoming trial is one of The Lawyer’s ‘Top 20 Cases’ of 2024.
  • For an investment joint venture company which made a significant capital investments in several mobile home sites owned by the Royale Group, led by Mr Bob Bull, in relation to potential fraud claims against Mr Bull and related bankruptcy proceedings.


Prior to joining Hausfeld, Alex was part of the legal teams:

  • The defence of a large private bank and overseas subsidiaries in High Court and Court of Appeal litigation, including a successful challenge to the relevant jurisdiction of the claim.
  • The successful defence of a multinational client subject to a SFO investigation regarding allegations of bribery.
  • The defence of a claim against a UK-based corporate under Indonesian law, as well as simultaneous arbitration counterclaims, and settlement negotiations.
  • An international civil fraud arbitration.

Environment & Product Liability

At Hausfeld, he has: 

  • Acted on behalf of Stand.earth in a first-of-its kind greenwashing complaint in France against Lululemon in relation to the retailer’s ‘Be Planet’ advertising campaign.

Public Law

Prior to joining Hausfeld, Alex:

  • Researched and prepared papers on existing corporate and financial laws and how they pertain to climate risk.
  • Prepared briefs to counsel for legal opinions on directors’ duties and disclosure obligations and climate change in various jurisdictions (predominantly in South-East Asia).
  • Managed the preparation of multiple iterations of a global document on directors’ duties and climate change in collaboration with the World Economic Forum’s Climate Governance Initiative.

Banking & Financial Disputes

At Hausfeld, Alex is part of the legal teams:
