Tala is a Global Justice Fellow in Hausfeld's Washington, DC office, focusing on international human rights and immigration advocacy. She joined the firm after graduating from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a member of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal and received two CALI Excellence for the Future awards in human rights coursework.
Tala's commitment to human rights work is rooted in her upbringing in Lebanon, where she began organizing around social and legal protections for refugees and displaced communities as a teenager and later helped establish an early accountability working group following the 2020 Beirut port explosion. She went on to work to help shape policy addressing the needs of Lebanon's displaced Syrian population.
As a Student Attorney with Georgetown Law's Center for Applied Legal Studies, Tala litigated three asylum cases before federal immigration judges, including full merits hearings, prevailing in all three. Her work included client and witness interviews, evidentiary development, drafting declarations and legal briefs, and oral argument. She currently serves as a research and writing assistant to Professor Emily Chertoff on Georgetown Law's Immigrant Experience Project, conducting IRB-approved qualitative interviews with noncitizens in multiple languages to study how immigration enforcement shapes legal consciousness. She also worked as a research assistant to Professor David Super on administrative and poverty law, and studied under Georgetown Law professors. Earlier in her career, she interned with the Middle East Institute's Leadership and Policy Program and at a corporate law firm in Beirut, Lebanon.
Tala is fluent in Arabic and French.
