Cara focuses on the resolution of commercial disputes, including competition and financial disputes.

Expertise

Cara joined Hausfeld’s competition team in May 2025 from Hogan Lovells, where she qualified. During that time, she gained experience working on competition law matters related to various litigation, CMA investigations and merger control. She also completed a client secondment at CitiGroup.

Closely aligned with our ethos, Cara has an active pro bono practice and has been involved in a highly publicised and successful landmark judicial review as well as in inquests and public inquiries.

Experience

Antitrust/Competition

At Hausfeld, she is part of the legal team working on:

  • An opt-out collective action filed with the CAT on behalf of an estimated 19.5 million eligible UK users of smartphones and tablets running on Google’s Android operating system relating to excessive and unlawful charges on purchase in the Google Play App Store. The claim alleges that Google unfairly restricts consumers from accessing potential competition from other app distributors, by requiring smartphone manufacturers to pre-install a bundle of Google’s proprietary apps and services including the Google Play Store as well as imposing other contractual and technical restrictions

Commercial & Financial Disputes

Prior to joining Hausfeld, Cara was part of legal teams representing:

  • A public body in a negligence claim.
  • A public body in a procurement challenge.
  • A financial institution in an unjust enrichment dispute.

Pro Bono

Before Hausfeld, Cara was involved in several pro bono initiatives including:

  • Acting in a highly publicised and successful landmark judicial review.
  • Drafting a Victims’ Right to Review Application, which resulted in the re-opening of a criminal investigation.
  • Acting in three inquests and one public inquiry.
  • Contributing to a report on the impact of Generative AI on the Right to Free and Fair Elections.
