William Butterfield Appointed as Chair of Sedona Conference® Working Group on E-Discovery

January 6, 2015 (Washington, D.C.) – William Butterfield, a partner at Hausfeld, has been appointed as Chair of The Sedona Conference® Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1).  The Sedona Conference® is known as the leading “think-tank” on e-discovery, and its work has been influential in the development of legal principles on this important subject.

“I am honored to lead this terrific group of legal practitioners,” said Butterfield. "E-Discovery and information governance are among the most important topics facing litigants, and Sedona has lead the way in providing innovative solutions and best practices to guide judges and counsel.”

Butterfield has long been active in the field of e-discovery.  In addition to his leadership in the Sedona Conference®, he serves on the advisory board of Georgetown University Law Center’s Advanced E-Discovery Institute and is an adjunct professor at American University, Washington College of Law, where he teaches a course in electronic discovery.
