Hausfeld shortlisted by the Financial Times and RSGI for the 2023 Innovative Lawyers Awards North America in two major categories

We are proud to announce that Hausfeld has been shortlisted for the 2023 FT Innovative Lawyers Awards North America in two categories: ‘Innovation Lawyers in Cyber Security & Data Protection’ for In re: T-Mobile Customer Data Security Breach Litigation and ‘Innovative Lawyers in Technology’ for In re Google Play Developer Antitrust Litigation.

In the category of ‘Innovative Lawyers in Technology,” the publication has recognized the firm’s groundbreaking work on behalf of a class of app developers with $2 million or less in annual sales, which includes nearly all U.S. developers earning revenue in the Google Play Store. Hausfeld serves as Interim Co-Lead Counsel in In re Google Play Store Antitrust Litigation, one of the first cases filed in a wave of antitrust litigation that has disrupted the tech industry. Hausfeld’s work in this case is emblematic of its commitment to investigate and pursue claims for harm suffered as a result of monopolistic practices of Big Tech firms both here in the United States and in jurisdictions around the world. Hausfeld reached a $90 million settlement with Google and successfully negotiated meaningful injunctive relief that will benefit the developer class for years to come. The Hausfeld case team includes Melinda R. Coolidge, Katie R. Beran, and Kyle Bates.

The firm was further recognized in the “Innovation Lawyers in Cyber Security & Data Protection’ category for its work on In re: T-Mobile Customer Data Security Breach Litigation. Hausfeld served as Co-Lead Class Counsel, where the firm represented a class of 76.6 million U.S. residents who claimed that T-Mobile collects and maintains their confidential personal information. This resulted in one or more cybercriminals exploiting T-Mobile’s data security protocols, gaining access to personally identifiable information. A $500 million settlement was reached to account for damages that the class incurred, including multiple Class Representatives who suffered from identity theft and fraud as a result of the data breach. Hausfeld attorneys who worked on the case include James Pizzirusso, Steven Nathan, Renner Walker, and Ian Engdahl.

The winners will be announced at the 2023 FT Innovative Lawyers Awards North America ceremony on December 4th in New York City.
