IBA's 23rd Annual Competition Conference

The IBA’s Annual Competition Conference, in its 23rd year, is one of the best established events on the antitrust calendar. On the 6th and 7th September 2019, leading practitioners from around the globe discussed the latest developments and hottest topics in competition law in Florence, Italy.

London Partner, Anna Morfey, contributed to Friday afternoon’s panel discussing the future path of antitrust litigation in Europe and the issues that may arise from the new environment of high-stakes litigation.

Topics, which sparked an interesting debate included:

  • Merger control: time for a policy rethink?
  • An new environment of high-stake litigation and how collective proceeding mechanisms will function?
  • The role of antitrust other than consumer welfare?
  • Digitalisation – Antitrust tools for the Digital Economy – do we need a rethink?
