Competition Damages Symposium 2025
2024 marked a significant turning point for competition law practitioners, highlighted by key judgments from the Court of Appeal in Royal Mail v DAF, the High Court in Granville v LG Display, and the Competition Appeal Tribunal in Le Patourel v BT. Additionally, there were crucial hearings concerning novel abuse of dominance claims. This past year also saw further procedural innovations, which led to an increased emphasis on the role of experts in shaping the evidence base, as well as a broader range of expertise that the Competition Appeal Tribunal needs to consider.
Together with Linklaters and AlixPartners, Hausfeld is hosting an afternoon conference to discuss recent judgements and upcoming trials in 2025 and their impact on the competition landscape.
The conference will begin with a keynote speech from Chairman Ben Tidswell of the Competition Appeal Tribunal, followed by two expert panels featuring lawyers, barristers, and funders. These panels will cover the following topics:
- Panel on abuse of dominance: What are the latest developments in the case law? What impact will the judgment in Le Patourel v BT have on excessive pricing claims? What approach are the courts taking to the more novel abuse claims that are being pursued?
- Panel on expert evidence: What is the role of experts in collective actions? Will the CAT’s shift towards an expert-led approach continue? How are the courts grappling with the wider diversity of expert evidence that has been put forward in recent cases?
