ABA: Collective Actions in Europe: an update
On 10th June the American Bar Association hosted a webinar providing update on collective actions in Europe, surveying the different applications of the Damages Directive and Collective Redress Guidance across member states, and parallel developments in the UK.
The webinar – which also identified jurisdictions that present particular opportunities for civil plaintiffs and corresponding risks for defendants – comprised five expert speakers, including Hausfeld Partner and competition litigation expert Lucy Rigby, who has a wealth of knowledge on collective actions, most recently acting for Which? in a landmark claim against Qualcomm.
The leading legal experts, also including Brendan Glackin of Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein LLP, Dr. Thomas Funke of Osborne Clarke, Dr. Katharnia Kolb of Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein LLP and Melanie Thill-Tayara - Dechert LLP, finalised with a discussion on damages, pass-on and retroactivity.
