2021 Antitrust Global Seminar Series
For its first Global Seminar Series of 2021, the ABA Antitrust Law Section brought together claimants and defence counsel in London on 17 November. The seminar was broken down into three segments: 1) The World of Cartels in 2021; 2) The Big Picture and 3) The Straw that Stirs the Drink. Each segment, facilitated by a panel of experts from the antitrust world, offering the opportunity for competition practitioners to hear about leading issues in the competition sector, share thoughts and ask questions.
Partner Lesley Hannah joined the panel “The Straw that Stirs the Drink” alongside Nicholas Frey of Freshfields, Paul Harris QC of Monckton Chambers and Victoria Wakefield QC of Brick Court Chambers – a mix of claimants' and defendants’ advocates. The discussion – which sparked different perspectives - focused on:
- 2021 developments in UK collective actions – including the Merricks v Mastercard decision – a significant milestone for the UK’s collective regime.
- The organisation of foreign exchange (FX) litigation and leadership.
- Potential broader implications.
