Air pollution: your right to clean air
Could air pollution be linked to your health problems?
We all know that the air we breathe is important – but it’s not always safe. If you or your loved ones have experienced irritated airways, feeling out of breath, wheezing, coughing, chest discomfort or other symptoms, it could be linked to air pollution.
In fact, air pollution has been associated with a huge range of health issues, including diseases like:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Acute lower respiratory infections in children (bronchiolitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)
These issues can mean serious damage to your quality of life and even premature death. In fact, an estimated 40,000 early deaths a year are linked to air pollution in the UK.
We are all affected by toxic air, but some – especially children, older people, and people on low incomes or from ethnic minorities – are more vulnerable or affected than others. This is not fair – and we are taking action to fight back.
We’re taking action
Law firm Hausfeld is working with environmental law charity ClientEarth to explore a possible new kind of legal action against the UK Government for failing to ensure everyone living in the UK can breathe safer, cleaner air.
We believe that individuals who are suffering as a result deserve justice and the chance to push for change. We want to make sure that people whose lives have been impacted by the toxic legacy of dirty air are compensated for the harm they have suffered and can push for action to better protect them and others going forward.
But for that, we need people to come forward with their stories.
Will you join the fight?
75% of air quality reporting zones in the UK still suffer from air pollution that is above legal limits – in towns and in rural areas. This could include your area.
We’re looking for individuals to hold the UK Government responsible for the real-life impacts of air pollution – which it has failed to clean up. If you or a loved one has suffered from asthma, COPD, or acute lower respiratory infections, we may be able to help you.
The Hausfeld team in London are specialists in group and collective claims, and ClientEarth has a proven track record of campaigning and pursuing successful litigation against the UK Government on air pollution. We will also be working with a specialist team of barristers and leading medical and scientific experts.
Hausfeld would be the lawyers acting for individuals on a “no win, no fee” basis, with ClientEarth providing technical expertise and assistance to support the claim.
If you were to participate in a claim, you would not have to pay to be part of this legal action. At this stage you are only expressing your potential interest, and sharing some details of your story so that it can be considered for possible inclusion in a group or collective claim. You are not required to formally instruct Hausfeld to represent you at this point and can withdraw your interest at any time.
Complete the form below to provide vital information and express your initial interest in taking action.
