On September 23, sixteen young people from around the world, represented by Hausfeld and Earthjustice, submitted a groundbreaking legal complaint to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (“CRC”) against five of the world’s largest economies – Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, and Turkey – for their global role in perpetuating the climate crisis.
Richard Lewis (while at his prior firm) represented a class of corn farmers in seeking compensation for business losses caused by contamination of the corn supply by a GMO Starlink corn. The case settled on behalf of the class.
Hausfeld achieved a groundbreaking settlement on behalf of Southern African gold miners suffering from occupational lung disease in Johannesburg, South Africa. This historic class action settlement, the first ever of its kind in South Africa, reflects more than a decade of preparation and litigation aimed at providing compensation to the gold miners who suffered from silicosis and tuberculosis over the last 50 years.
