Hausfeld represents several plaintiffs in a putative class action against Clearview AI filed in the Southern District of New York. Hausfeld has asserted claims on behalf of our clients and a putative class (and subclasses) for violations of the Illinois Biometric Privacy Act (“BIPA”), which prohibits a private entity broadly from possessing and selling a person’s biometric information without first informing and receiving permission to do so.
Hausfeld serves as Court-appointed Interim Co-Lead Counsel for a proposed class of financial institutions in In re Wawa, Inc. Data Security Litigation, pending in the District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania before the Honorable Gene E.K. Pratter.
Hausfeld Partner James Gotz, while at his prior firm, successfully led the prosecution of a wrongful death case alleging that a college head football coach was exposed to neurotoxic levels of Toluene (used to resurface the college gym floor) which led to the early onset and accelerated (and fatal) course of the coach’s ALS.
Richard Lewis (while at his prior firm) represented a class of corn farmers in seeking compensation for business losses caused by contamination of the corn supply by a GMO Starlink corn. The case settled on behalf of the class.
Led by James Gotz and Steve Rotman, Hausfeld’s Mass Tort group actively is prosecuting individual catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts against Tobacco manufacturers.
