The lawsuit follows Capital One’s July 29, 2019 announcement that more than 100 million individuals had their personal data stolen. According to Capital One, a hacker accessed Capital One’s files on the Amazon cloud through a sophisticated cyber-attack and was able to exfiltrate sensitive personal information from both individual and business credit card applications. Hausfeld has filed complaints in the Western District of Washington and the Eastern District of Virginia. The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation will consider consolidating the cases at its next hearing on September 26, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.
