Air pollution has been linked to the onset of asthma, both in children and in adults, and increased severity of asthma for those already living with the disease.
Children face the highest risks because even minimal exposure to air pollution prior to birth and in early childhood may result in reduced lung development, lifelong disease, increased risk of heart attacks and strokes in later life, disability and premature death.
What are we doing?
Hausfeld is exploring with a number of campaigning and parent groups, including Mums for Lungs, the possibility of bringing an action against the government on behalf of a group of children who have been affected by poor air quality in London. These effects may be demonstrated by the increased frequency or severity of asthma attacks or other respiratory problems.
