Hausfeld wins 'Lawyer of the Year' and 'Litigation of the Year - Cartel Prosecution' at 9th Annual GCR Awards

We are delighted to announce that firm Chairman Michael Hausfeld has been named “Lawyer of the Year,” and our firm’s work on the long-running price-fixing class action against Chinese manufacturers of vitamin C was recognized as “Litigation of the Year - Cartel Prosecution” by the Global Competition Review at its 9th Annual Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC.

Winning matters were selected through a system of evaluation by GCR and voting by the general public. These awards honor “the best in competition enforcement, merger and cartel defense.”

Hausfeld Founder and Chairman Michael Hausfeld is widely recognized as a leader in the claimants’ bar, and his career has included some of the largest and most successful cases in the fields of human rights, discrimination, and antitrust law – both nationally and around the globe.

In the groundbreaking vitamin C case, Animal Science Products v HeBei Welcome Pharmaceutical (E.D.N.Y.)Hausfeld serves as co-lead counsel, representing direct purchaser plaintiffs in the first antitrust case to successfully garner a jury verdict in the United States against Chinese manufacturers. In June 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 9-0 in favor of the class and against Chinese manufacturers that claimed to have been compelled by the Chinese government to fix prices. Michael Hausfeld, Brian Ratner, Brent Landau, and Melinda Coolidge are members of the case team.

Michael commented, “It is an honor to receive these awards from Global Competition Review and our peers in the antitrust/competition space. We look forward to continuing our firm’s success in the year ahead.”
