EU Competition Law Conference

During this all day conference, we heard directly from the European Commission and multinational’s in-house counsel about competition law developments both at EU and national level. Competition specialists reviewed the opportunities on offer in the ever-growing sector, and offered practical strategies to address challenges faced.

London Partner and Head of Competition Disputes, Scott Campbell, shared his insight on ‘Litigation and Private Enforcement’, as he joined the afternoon panel alongside Ken Murphy, Director General, Law Society of Ireland and Oliver Gannon, Economist, Deutsche Bahn AG. The experts discussed:

  • Assessing standard of proof and systems for damages: country comparison with Ireland/UK, Netherlands, Germany.
  • Trucks case review: update on case and its implications – Scott is currently representing a group of companies in the Competition Appeal Tribunal in respect of their damages claims arising from the European Truck cartel. This case was listed among The Lawyer magazine's Top 20 Cases for 2019.
