On September 23, sixteen young people from around the world, represented by Hausfeld and Earthjustice, submitted a groundbreaking legal complaint to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (“CRC”) against five of the world’s largest economies – Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, and Turkey – for their global role in perpetuating the climate crisis.
Lawyers from Hausfeld, Free Periods and the Red Box Project teamed up behind the long committed campaigner Amika George to launch the campaign with CrowdJustice to eliminate Period Poverty in January 2019. In April 2019, the Government confirmed funding for free sanitary products for all English schools and colleges from early 2020. Justice was obtained on behalf of all school children in England.
Hausfeld recently settled a case in Kodaikanal India on behalf of 500 former workers of a thermometer factory who had been living with the adverse health effects of mercury contamination.
