Capacitors Cartel

In March 2018, the European Commission fined eight capacitor producers – Elna, Hitachi Chemical, Holy Stone, Matsuo, NEC Tokin, Nichicon, Nippon Chemi-Con and Rubycon – a total of €254 million for participating in a cartel between 1998 – 2012. 

Alternators & Starters

In January 2016, the European Commission ("EC") fined Melco (Mitsubishi Electric) and Hitachi in a total of € 137 789 000 for participating in a cartel for alternators and starters with another firm,Denso, and breaching EU antitrust rules that operated in the European Economic Area ("EEA") between 2004 and 2010.


Consumer Detergents

In April 2011, the European Commission fined three companies a total of €315.2 million for operating between 2002 and 2005 as a cartel and participated in illegal price-fixing activity in the market for household laundry powder detergents. 


In March 2014, the European Commission (“EC”) fined a number of European and Japanese producers of car and truck bearings a total of €953 million in a cartel that operated in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) between 2004 and 2011 within the European Economic Area.


Parking Heaters

In June 2015, The European Commission found that two German producers of automotive parts, Eberspächer and Webasto, have breached EU antitrust rules prohibiting cartels and restrictive business practices.
