In re Inductors Antitrust Litigation, Case No. 18-cv-0198-EJD-NC (N.D. Cal.) – In this consolidated litigation alleging a price-fixing conspiracy between the leading manufacturers of Inductors, Hausfeld LLP is the Court-appointed interim co-lead counsel along with Bleichmar Fonti & Auld LLP for the proposed class of Direct Purchaser Plaintiffs. The presiding judge is the Honorable Edward J. Davila and the discovery magistrate is the Honorable Nathanael Cousins.

The civil litigation follows reports that the United States Department of Justice had issued investigative subpoenas to certain companies relating to an investigation of price-fixing activity in the Inductors market.  Hausfeld and co-counsel filed the operative Consolidated Complaint in this litigation in September of 2018.

The Complaint names as Defendants the following companies: Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.; Murata Electronics North America, Inc.; Murata Power Solutions, Inc.; Panasonic Corporation; Panasonic Corporation of North America; Panasonic Electronic Devices Co. Ltd; Panasonic Electronic Devices Corporation of America; Sagami Elec Co., Ltd.; Sagami America, Ltd.; Sumida Corporation; Sumida Electric Co., Ltd.; Sumida America Components, Inc.; Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd.; Taiyo Yuden (U.S.A.) Inc.; TDK Corporation; TDK-EPC Corporation; TDK Corporation of America; TDK U.S.A. Corporation; Tokin Corporation; and Tokin America, Inc.  Plaintiffs allege that these Defendants formed a cartel to fix and stabilize prices for Inductors sold or shipped to the United States.

The Court has set a hearing on Defendants’ Motion to Dismiss, scheduled for May 2, 2019.  In the meantime, discovery is progressing, and the Court has set a schedule in the case.
